Accomplishments
Dr.
Allen Sanborn,
Professor of Biology, received the “Faculty of the Year” award for his
accomplishments in educational excellence, scholarship development,
professional development, public professional service and university
service. As a result of Dr. Sanborn’s unique work in Entomology, he has
become a national and international expert in his field and travels
extensively to conduct his research. He has published 47 manuscripts in
refereed scientific journals and has an extensive list of abstracts,
posters and presented papers. Dr. Sanborn belongs to 11 scientific
societies and also serves on the university’s boards/committees. Dr.
Sanborn embodies the four components of Barry’s mission- quality
academics, community service, a caring atmosphere, and a religious
dimension.

Petrino, Associate Scientist, won the FASEB Faculty Mentor Travel
Award to present her research at the Experimental Biology meeting in
Washington, DC, April 2004.

Dr. Peter
Lin, Professor of Biology, and two students, Carolina
Pombo-Martinez and Sandra Franco carried out research at the Hormone
Research Center (HRC), Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Republic of
Korea, summer of 2004. The visit was sponsored by the NIH MIRT program. In
Korea, Dr. Lin networked with the scientists and discussed possible
scientific collaboration in reproductive endocrinology research between
Barry and the HRC.
