The term SKY refers to the labeling with a different color the chromosomes to better visualizethese chromosomes. This technique is useful in the identification of adnormal chromosomes.

A Robertsonian translocation is a special type of non-reciprocal translocation in chromosomes whereby the the short arms become attached to and form a reciprocal structure that many times "erases" some of the information provided. Whereas the long arms of two non-homologous acrocentric chromosomes are attached to a single centromere.
