A primary source is one that is written by those who have done the work; it is composed of original data of the author(s).A primary source is written in a scholarly fashion, contains citations, and usually follows the format of the scientific method, containing an abstract, introduction, materials/methods, results and a conclusion. Primary sources are usually geared toward the scientific audience. A secondary source is like a review article based on primary sources. It is written in a way for the general audience to be able to understand it. It may or may not contain citations.
