There are many differences between primary and secondary sources. For the most part primary sources are reports on original work or original experiments. Primary sources also include a long list of citations and references. They will also generally include the materials and methods and also graphs and pictures. Primary sources are much more difficult for the general public to understand. Secondary sources do not come from original ideas they are usually summaries of a primary source and are much more understandable. They for the most part do not include references or methodology either.
