Jackie Medina 9-4-03 BIO 475-01 Enrichment Activity #4 Our course objectives are three-fold. The first part is to increase certain skills that will enable us better to understand scientific material. These are analyzing skills and critical thinking skills. These skills can be accomplished by reading, understanding and discussing scientific journal articles. By doing these things, students can break down material they have read and discuss with the class so that difficult reading can become simple. After comprehension, the next objective is to organize, apply and analyze the information that is taken from the scientific material. Then learn to assess and solve problems, so that one can finally write and present a scientific review, the third objective. This review should be based on primary and secondary sources and should be written in a scholarly fashion. This objective can be reached with the answer to the question that the Pharisees asked Jesus Christ. The question was, “What are anticipatory set and your objective in the cognitive domain?” An anticipatory set is a way to get students involved and ready to learn the day’s lesson. It can be a short story, game, etc. that will give students a hint on what the day’s activity will be. The cognitive domain is a series of steps that will enable a student to accomplish the goal of learning a required subject or material. These steps include knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. By following these steps we can achieve our objectives and become better scholars. The anticipatory set that Jesus used was his miracles. These got the attention of the people of that time. His cognitive domain was his teachings.
